  • Celebrated Chinese New Year with the homeless community at Shepherds Table in Silver Spring; provided Chinese dinner to over 150 Shepherds Table guests and shared the Chinese culture about the Lunar New Year Event
  • Attended OCA National Board Meeting in Tucson, Arizona

  • Attended AAEA Lunar New Year Event at New Fortune Restaurant
  • Attended MD Governor's Lunar New Year Event in Annapolis, MD
  • Attended Life and Discovery Asian Spring Concert in Frederick, MD
  • Attended Committee 100 (Michael Lin)

March 2012

  • Attended OCA-NOVA Lunar New Year Event at China Garden in Rosslyn
  • Attended Asian American LEAD's 13th Annual Dinner in downtown Silver Spring
  • Sponsored OCA-APIU Reception for college students
  • Board member attended 2012 JACL/OCA Leadership Summit
  • Supported two Maryland House of Delegates bills: interpreters for victims of crime and use of separate categories for certain APIAs when collecting demographic data.

April 2012

  • Attended Hepatitis B Virus educational session presented by noted authority, Dr. Mark Li at Tony Chen's Restaurant in Chinatown
  • Conducted Hepatitis B screening at Chinese Cultural Center in Chinatown – with a target for restaurant workers working in DC Chinatown restaurants
  • Attended Montgomery Leadership Meeting sponsored by the Montgomery County Government to share community needs with Montgomery County Executive Officer, Ike Leggett
  • Attended OCA National Board Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA
  • Sponsored Talk Story event at Chinatown Cultural Center with presentation by author, John Jung, on the history of Chinese Laundries, Restaurants and Grocery Stores in America

May 2012

  • Sponsored Talk Story event featuring the WWI Memoirs of Rebecca Ching
  • Attended APAICS dinner in Washington, DC
  • Attended CAPAL – APA Heritage Ball
  • Sponsored Talk Story event in Chinatown regarding Chinese American history
  • Supported a networking/ educational event with the National Association of Asian American MBAs (NAAMBA)
  • Conducted a Hepatitis B Virus Education Session and conducted screenings at the National Association of Professional Asian American Women (NAPAW) Conference at the DHHS headquarters in Washington, DC
  • Attended AAHI Resource Workshop to gather information about resources available to communities
  • Attended Fiesta Asia event in downtown DC
  • Conducted Hepatitis B screening event to 41 employees of a local Nordstrom store
  • Attended Montgomery County annual APA Heritage Month Program
  • Attended DC Mayor's celebration of APA Heritage where local community leaders were honored and APA members of the Mayor's staff were recognized; attended reception at the Korean embassy
  • Gave support of the 1882 Project that led to the Congressional expression of regret for the Chinese Exclusion Act
  • Attended Pan Asian Chamber of Commerce at North Bethesda Marriott
  • Attended Asian American Business Conference, hosted by the MD Governor's Commission for APA Affairs
  • Supported AALR – Asian American Literacy Symposium
  • Worked at Manna Food Center to bag up goods for needy residents of the area
  • Attended APA Heritage Month Reception at the U.S. Senate building in DC
  • Attended AAHI training regarding Grants 102 held in Silver Spring

June 2012

  • Supported Educating Maryland Kids coalition in defense of the Maryland Dream Act to fight for children seeking fair and equitable access to education in an institution of higher learning
  • Provided $1,000 for the National Civil Rights Fellowship Program

July 2012

  • Sponsored an OCA Intern community reception and general membership meeting at OCA National
  • Supported an AAPI Homeowners' Educational Event held at Kennedy High School in Silver Spring for the Asian community
  • Sponsored Talk Story event by Major Kurt Lee at Chinese Community Church

August 2012

  • Sponsored Talk Story Event which featured Stan Lou, Co-President of OCA-DC, who spoke about "Mississippi – Stan's Story of Growing Up in the South Under the Shadow of Jim Crow"
  • Met with OCA National and OCA-NOVA to begin plans for OCA National Convention scheduled for July 18 – 21, 2013 in Washington, DC
  • Attended (Chapter Co-Presidents) 2012 National Convention in Las Vegas

September 2012

  • Planned Mid-Autumn Moon Festival dinner for homeless guests of Shepherd's Table in Silver Spring, MD
  • Sponsored fellowship/ networking BBQ at Ginny Gong's home with introduction of "Rookie of the Year," Jeff Oleen, local Asian NASCAR race driver
  • Attended JACL Gala and Chinese Embassy National Day event
